On May 21, the “Invest Chongqing · Discover Opportunities” Multinational Economic Matchmaking Conference was held during the 8th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT). At the conference, Chongqing extended a sincere invitation to global enterprises: As an inland city in China, Chongqing possesses a comprehensive industrial support system capable of providing full industrial backing for various types of industrial projects. The city sincerely invites global enterprises to invest in and deepen their presence in Chongqing.

Data shows that 325 Fortune 500 companies have currently settled in Chongqing, and the city is home to over 8,700 foreign-funded market entities. These foreign-funded enterprises not only bring high-quality capital but also contribute approximately half of the city’s total import and export value and one-tenth of its tax revenue. They directly or indirectly support one-fifteenth of the city’s urban employment, injecting strong momentum into Chongqing’s economic and social development.

“A German entrepreneur once candidly stated that what he values most about Chongqing is its rare industrial completeness,” said a relevant official from the Municipal Commerce Commission. Whether in automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, or other industries, enterprises can find upstream and downstream supporting resources nearby in Chongqing. The city’s advantage in full-chain, highly efficient industrial synergy is particularly prominent among domestic cities.

As Chongqing’s industrial strength continues to solidify, its smart connected new energy vehicle production accounts for 8% of the national total, and one out of every four laptops produced globally comes from Chongqing.

In the automotive sector, Chongqing has been named “China’s Auto Capital” for two consecutive years, boasting significant supporting industrial advantages. The local supporting rate for complete vehicles exceeds 70%, and core components can be sourced within a one-hour drive. In 2025, Chongqing’s new energy vehicle production surpassed the one million mark. One out of every eight vehicles and one out of every three motorcycles produced in China is “Chongqing-made.” Local automotive brands such as Seres, Avatr, and Changan Deep Blue are accelerating their expansion across the country and around the globe.

“Choosing Chongqing means choosing stable development and seizing the opportunities of the times,” the official stated. Chongqing is currently focusing on building the “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system, with emerging industries like biomedicine rising rapidly, continuously releasing policy dividends and industrial opportunities.

A comprehensive industrial chain attracts global giants, while a high-quality urban business environment encourages enterprises to stay and thrive.

“Chongqing is an important medical hub in western China and an inland open hub. Its urban development advantages are deeply impressive,” said Guy Lheureux, Global Vice President of Werfen. He noted that Chongqing, leveraging the cross-border pharmaceutical distribution system built on the China-Europe Railway Express, continues to improve the quality of primary healthcare, which highly aligns with the company’s mission of using innovative diagnostic technologies to support medical development.

Werfen’s cooperative aspirations reflect the confidence many multinational companies have in Chongqing’s development. Foreign-funded enterprises continue to increase their presence in Chongqing, attracted not only by the solid “Chongqing Manufacturing” foundation but also by the vast “Chongqing Opportunities.”

At this matchmaking conference, numerous multinational companies held in-depth discussions with relevant Chongqing districts, industrial parks, and enterprises in areas such as high-end manufacturing, healthcare, green industries, and cross-border trade. Existing cooperation projects continued to expand, and a number of new cooperation projects are accelerating their implementation.

Germany’s Siemens Mobility will leverage its globally leading technologies in fully automated operation, intelligent maintenance, and green energy efficiency to deeply participate in the construction and upgrading of Chongqing’s rail transit, helping the city build a safe, efficient, and low-carbon modern rail transit system. France’s TotalEnergies will continue to advance cooperation in new energy and financial investment, actively exploring collaboration in mobility services. South Korea’s SK Group will continue to deepen its presence in the Chongqing market. Representatives of the attending foreign-funded enterprises stated that Chongqing’s strategic location, complete industrial supporting facilities, and continuously improving business environment will lead them to further increase their investment and layout in Chongqing.
