The British Consulate-General in Chongqing Held a Birthday Reception for Queen Elizabeth and a Platinum Jubilee Celebration at the Chongqing Industrial Museum

The British Consulate-General in Chongqing hosted a birthday reception for Queen Elizabeth and a celebration of the Platinum Jubilee at the Chongqing Industrial Museum on the evening of June 9, 2022. Stephen Ellison, British Consul General in Chongqing, along with consulate staff, representatives from British companies and overseas British in Chongqing, representatives from Chongqing and provinces relevant to The British Consulate-General in Chongqing, and consuls general from various countries in Chongqing attended the event. Yu Changming, Secretary of the Dadukou District Party Committee, was invited to attend the event.

Since the establishment of the British Consulate-General in Chongqing in 2000, it has actively promoted exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and the United Kingdom in various fields, achieving fruitful results. In 2021, trade between Chongqing and the UK reached a new high of 13 billion yuan, and six new British companies settled in Chongqing, making the total number of British companies in Chongqing close to 100. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial-level diplomatic relations between China and the UK, and Chongqing will work together with the British Consulate-General in Chongqing to strengthen exchanges, deepen cooperation, and seek common development in accordance with the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. During the event, the Chongqing Datong Chinese Orchestra and students from Harrow Innovation Leadership Academy gave wonderful musical performances.
