Industry Design Empowerment Conference in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle

On June 28, 2023, the Industry Design Empowerment Conference in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle opened in Dazu District, Chongqing. The conference was themed “Smart Digital Empowers Economy, Design Wins Future”. It brought together industry leaders, scholars, and representatives of corporations from both Sichuan and Chongqing to consolidate wisdom through dialogue and explore major initiatives and development opportunities to empower enterprises in Sichuan and Chongqing through industrial design. The role of industrial design in promoting the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry is becoming increasingly prominent. In recent years, Chongqing has made city-wide efforts to rejuvenate its old industrial bases. Tan Jialing, the Vice Chairman of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, stated that Chongqing is concentrating on creating three trillion-yuan dominant industry clusters – intelligent networked new energy vehicles, next-generation electronic information manufacturing, advanced materials – and upgrading to form three five-hundred-billion yuan pillar industry clusters – intelligent equipment manufacturing and intelligent manufacturing, food and agricultural product processing, and software information services. It is also innovating to create six hundred-billion-yuan characteristic advantageous industries such as new type displays, high-end motorcycles, and light alloy materials while fostering and growing 18 “new star” industry clusters such as satellite internet, bio-manufacturing, and life sciences. The comprehensive “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system provides a wide application landscape and market space for the growth of the industrial design industry.
