From September 17 to 19, the 5th Chengdu-Chongqing Food Industry Expo will be held at the China Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park in Xinjin, Chengdu. The 20,000-square-meter exhibition area will bring together over 400 participating companies.
During the expo, Chongqing will set up a 300-square-meter themed pavilion for the food and agricultural product processing industry, host the “Chongqing Braised Delicacies National Tour · Sichuan Stop” special event, and organize the Chongqing delegation to actively participate in the opening ceremony, the Sichuan-Chongqing Prepared Food Industry Supply-Demand Matchmaking, the Sichuan-Chongqing New Beverage Collaborative Innovation Exchange and New Product Launch, and other key activities.
Hotpot and Sichuan cuisine share the same frame; spicy and numbing flavors blend with savory freshness. The Chengdu-Chongqing Food Industry Expo, jointly organized by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, has grown over five editions into a vital platform for deepening food industry cooperation between the two regions and polishing the “Bashu Flavors” brand. At the previous expo, over 500 companies and more than 3,000 products were showcased across 15,000 square meters, serving over 2,000 enterprises cumulatively and attracting over 80,000 visitors.
This year‘s expo moves to Xinjin, with notable highlights. In September 2025, the Xinjin Economic Development Zone and the Chongqing Jiangjin Industrial Park signed a cooperation agreement for joint park development, while food companies from the two regions signed RMB 2.2 billion in supply chain cooperation agreements, jointly building a demonstration zone for coordinated development of the Sichuan-Chongqing green food industry. Hosting the expo on this “fertile ground for cooperation” aims to leverage the extension, supplementation, and strengthening of the food industry chain to build a national production-sales matchmaking platform.

To experience Chongqing flavors, start at the Chongqing Pavilion. At this year‘s expo, the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology will set up a themed pavilion for Chongqing’s food and agricultural product processing industry, showcasing a selection of specialty food companies.
This confidence stems from a strong industrial foundation: the city‘s food and agricultural product processing industry cluster has surpassed RMB 350 billion in scale, forming a nationally influential Sichuan-Chongqing specialty seasoning production area, an important grain and oil processing base in western China, and the country’s largest mustard tuber production base and NFC orange juice processing base. The city has cumulatively established 45 municipal-level enterprise technology centers, 573 innovative SMEs, and 503 municipal-level specialized and sophisticated SMEs. It has nurtured nationally renowned brands such as Wujiang Mustard Tuber, Chongqing Brewery, and Jiangxiaobai. Chongqing Brewery, Fuling Mustard Tuber, Shixian Taibai, Meijian, and Tongnan Lemon have been selected as China Consumer Famous Brands. At previous expos, sections of the Chongqing themed pavilion such as “A Thousand Tastes,” “New Bashu Styles,” and “Chongqing Feast” drew large crowds, leaving strong impressions with flavors like spicy and numbing, Sichuan pepper, and garlic.
This year‘s themed pavilion will feature “hit products”—Chongqing braised delicacies, functional health foods, new beverages, grain and oil condiments, and other meticulously crafted products will be unveiled together, allowing consumers and buyers to experience the charm of “Chongqing Flavors, Made for You” in one stop.

When it comes to Chongqing flavors, braised delicacies are an essential calling card. During the expo, the “Chongqing Braised Delicacies National Tour · Sichuan Stop” special event will kick off, spreading the rich braised aroma across the Bashu region.
Chongqing‘s braised delicacy industry has a deep foundation, with Rongchang braised goose long beloved as a local specialty food. In June 2025, the Chongqing Braised Delicacy Industry Alliance, led by the Chongqing Food Industry Association, was established at the 4th Expo; by October of the same year, the alliance had over 130 inaugural members covering raw material supply, production and processing, warehousing and logistics, and marketing services, focusing on resource sharing, technology upgrading, brand building, and talent development to empower the industry. This “National Tour” into Sichuan is another practical step by the alliance to promote Chongqing braised delicacies as they “go global” and expand into national markets.

The Chongqing delegation is not just “exhibiting” this time—it is “answering the call.” At the opening ceremony on September 17, the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology will present an industry promotion, showcasing development opportunities in Chongqing‘s food and agricultural product processing industry. On the afternoon of the same day, at the Sichuan-Chongqing Prepared Food Industry Supply-Demand Matchmaking event, Chongqing’s Liangping District will present an industry promotion, and a professor from Southwest University‘s College of Food Science will deliver a keynote presentation. On September 18, the Sichuan-Chongqing New Beverage Collaborative Innovation Exchange and New Product Launch will be held, with local liquor companies including Chongqing Brewery, Bottle Planet, and Lao Zhixing coming together for product displays, on-site tastings, and roundtable discussions to explore innovative paths in the new beverage sector with Sichuan counterparts, helping industry products transition “from viral to lasting.”
One expo links the industrial ambitions of two cities. The economic and information departments of Sichuan and Chongqing will continue to seize the opportunity presented by the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle development, organizing high-quality events such as the Chengdu-Chongqing Food Industry Expo, and conducting various forms of production-sales matchmaking and promotional exhibitions, allowing Sichuan and Chongqing cuisine to flow globally and helping “Sichuan-Chongqing flavors reach the world, Chinese quality earn global reputation.”
