Chen Mingbo stated in his speech that Chongqing and Singapore have a long history of cooperation and friendship. Chongqing is actively implementing the principles of the 19th CPC National Congress, seizing the opportunities presented by national strategies such as China’s Western Development Strategy, the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Chongqing aims to be a key growth engine and driving force for China’s high-quality development, while building a modern and progressive Chongqing. In the future, exchanges and interactions between Chongqing and Singapore across various fields will increase in frequency, expand in scope, and hold even greater promise. We are committed to collaborating with Singapore, leveraging the “Chongqing Week in Singapore” event as an opportunity to further advance the China-Singapore Connectivity project with excellence. We aim to explore diverse areas of cooperation, establish ourselves as a benchmark and leader in projects, and foster a new era of collaboration between Chongqing and Singapore, as well as between western China and ASEAN countries.

Lin Mingliang highlighted that the cooperation between Singapore and Chongqing is a testament to the comprehensive, high-quality, and forward-looking partnership between China and Singapore. The China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity is a cornerstone cooperation project proposed by Singapore and Chongqing. By fostering collaboration in the key sectors of financial services, aviation industry, transportation and logistics, and information communication, Singapore has strengthened connectivity not only between Singapore and Chongqing but also between Southeast Asia and western China. At the same time, the China-Singapore connectivity project has also created conditions for cooperation in areas such as agricultural and food trade, green economy, healthcare, and tourism. Chongqing, a city surrounded by mountains and rivers, seamlessly blends a rich historical and cultural heritage with its modern metropolis. The diverse range of activities during “Chongqing Week in Singapore” aims to showcase the distinctive culture of Chongqing, inviting everyone to experience the captivating charm it holds.

Sun Haiyan stated that in March this year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong jointly announced the establishment of a comprehensive, high-quality and forward-looking partnership between China and Singapore. Each of these three aspects carries rich connotations and requires in-depth thinking and exploration by both countries to expand emerging areas and uncover new possibilities in traditional areas for the new era. Singapore is a successful example of the construction and development of an international city. Chongqing has developed a distinctive urban style, humanistic landscape, and cultural charm. The activities of Chongqing Week play a crucial role in enhancing Chongqing’s international image and influence, allowing everyone to witness the city’s beauty. Through the display of Chongqing’s charm, more and more people can gain an understanding of the city, connect with its soul, and contribute to its improvement. This, in turn, supports the construction of a modern new Chongqing and provides assistance for the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
