The “robot craze” sparked by this year’s Spring Festival Gala shows no signs of cooling down, and Chongqing has added fuel to the fire—on March 1st, the Chongqing Robotics AI Application Demonstration Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) officially opened in Shuitu New City, Liangjiang New Area, showcasing hundreds of robots. All major types of robots currently in application across the city can be found here. On March 2nd, reporters visited the Center for an on-site exploration.

Located on the east side of the former Liangjiang Robot Exhibition Center (near Yunzhong Street), the Center covers 13,000 square meters and is being developed in two phases to create five “hardcore” technology zones. In the industrial robot exhibition area on the first floor, robots from Kawasaki, Fanuc, Huashu, and others stand ready for action.

Reporters observed four Kawasaki robots working in coordinated sequence, methodically transferring, polishing, inspecting, and placing metal parts. Nearby, robotic arms used in automotive production were raised high, ready to install components onto vehicle bodies. A Center representative stated that these industrial robots, commonly seen on factory floors and production lines, remain somewhat mysterious to the general public. While showcasing industrial robots, the Center also reflects the “intelligent manufacturing” strength of Chongqing’s industries, such as smart connected new energy vehicles and next-generation electronic information manufacturing.

The second floor houses the service robot exhibition area. Here, visitors who have made advance reservations can interact with robots for immersive experiences, including playing Gomoku (Five in a Row) against a robot, operating robots in soccer matches, chatting with educational robots, and participating in AI knowledge quizzes. Reporters saw children, guided by parents and staff, trying to operate the Unitree Go2 consumer-grade quadruped robot (commonly known as a “robot dog”), making it flexibly lie down, stand up, walk, and stretch. Later, under the operation of Center staff, a Unitree G1 robot delivered a smooth “kung fu performance”—jumping, turning, landing, and dropping into a horse stance in one fluid sequence.

Beyond robot displays and interactions, the Center features numerous information boards and kiosks dedicated to popularizing knowledge and application examples in fields such as robotics, AI, and embodied intelligence.

A Center representative reported that since its official opening, the Center has been bustling with visitors. Currently, the Center is gradually refining its exhibition content and infrastructure. A VR experience zone is expected to be added later this month, and plans are underway to launch a “Robot Cafe” by the end of the month, staffed by robots serving as “baristas” and “waiters.” In addition to offering free public visits, the Center can also facilitate services like robot rentals and corporate team-building activities. Interested citizens and businesses can contact the Center for further inquiries. Moving forward, the Center plans to introduce more robot application scenarios based on industry trends, further enriching the visitor experience and contributing to the popularization of robotics and AI in Chongqing.
