On December 31st, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology released the Chongqing Industrial Park Industry Map (2025 Edition). This map is designed to accelerate the optimization of the city’s industrial park layout, foster the development of distinctive and mutually reinforcing industrial clusters, promote coordinated regional development, support the construction of Chongqing’s “33618” modern manufacturing cluster system, and bolster the city’s role as a national hub for advanced manufacturing.
“Industrial division and collaboration are crucial pathways for optimizing productivity distribution and promoting industrial agglomeration and cluster development. This is the original intent behind compiling the Industry Map,” stated a relevant official from the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology. The Industry Map consists of two main sections: the Industrial Park Layout Map and the “33618” Modern Manufacturing Cluster System Industry Distribution Map. The former focuses on individual industrial parks, providing development recommendations for their leading industries and those of their constituent zones. The latter is categorized by industry sector, highlighting the distribution of specific industries and their corresponding supply chain segments across parks citywide.

For example, the Industry Map details the industrial layout of Liangjiang New Area across several zones. These include the Zhao-Mu-Shan Ring area, focusing on artificial intelligence and industrial software; Shuitu New City, specializing in new display technologies, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices; Longxing New City, dedicated to new energy vehicle (NEV) assembly and aerospace equipment; Yufu New City, concentrating on NEV assembly and integrated circuits; and the Lianglu-Guoyuan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone, emphasizing automotive manufacturing, communications, and electronic equipment manufacturing.
The industrial layout of the Chongqing High-tech Zone (Western Science City) is also outlined. It includes the Northern University Town cluster, focusing on drive motors and in-vehicle network communication terminals; the Xiyong Comprehensive Bonded Zone Micro-electronics Park cluster, specializing in computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing; and the “Jinfeng-Hangu” cluster, dedicated to high-end medical devices and low-altitude equipment.
The Industry Map also specifies the leading industries designated for key development in the coming period for each citywide industrial park and its subordinate zones, providing a reference for enterprises considering investment and site selection in Chongqing. Taking the intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry—the foremost among Chongqing’s three trillion-yuan leading industries—as an example, the Industry Map provides guidance on its layout across 24 national and municipal-level development zones. Accordingly, Liangjiang New Area will focus on vehicle assembly; Yongchuan High-tech Zone and Banan Industrial Park will emphasize passenger vehicle manufacturing; Wanzhou Economic Development Zone will prioritize commercial vehicle assembly; Fuling Economic Development Zone and Bishan High-tech Zone will concentrate on power batteries; and Rongchang High-tech Zone will focus on automotive interiors and exteriors.
